Brightwell Aquatics MicroBacter CWM
Overview
Seed and stabilize the biofilter in cold-water marine systems. MicroBacter CWM delivers a balanced consortium of beneficial bacteria selected for temperate salinities and temperatures, helping quickly convert toxic ammonia and nitrite, reduce organics, and keep surfaces cleaner in public-style displays, temperate reef tanks, kelp/macroalgae systems, and chilled marine aquaria.
Key Features
-
Built for cold water (CWM) – Optimized for the microbial demands of temperate marine systems (commonly ~50–65°F / 10–18°C).
-
Complete bioculture – Supports nitrification, aids in the breakdown of dissolved/particulate organics, and promotes a resilient biofilm on rock, sand, and media.
-
Speeds stabilization – Helps shorten the “new tank” phase and improves recovery after filter maintenance, new livestock, or carbon dosing changes.
-
Reef/invert safe – Contains no copper or harsh preservatives; suitable for fish, inverts, and macroalgae when used as directed.
-
Versatile use – For initial cycling, post-cleaning re-seeding, and ongoing water-clarity/cleanliness programs.
Directions (General)
-
New systems: Shake well. Turn UV/ozone off and reduce heavy skimming for 24–48 hrs after each dose. Dose per label based on total system volume for the first 7–14 days, testing ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate.
-
Established systems: Dose per label weekly or after water changes, media swaps, or livestock additions.
-
Maintain strong aeration/oxygenation. Never overdose ammonia sources when fishless cycling. Always follow the bottle’s instructions.
Best Practices (Temperate Marine)
-
Keep temperature stable within your livestock’s target range (many temperate setups: 50–65°F / 10–18°C).
-
Maintain salinity around 1.023–1.026 SG and consistent alkalinity/pH suitable for marine life.
-
Rinse or replace mechanical media regularly to prevent clogging that starves biofilms of flow/oxygen.
-
Use quality test kits and log parameters during the first weeks.
Compatibility
-
Safe with protein skimmers, activated carbon, GFO/PO4 media, and macroalgae.
-
Temporarily disable UV/ozone for 24–48 hrs after dosing to allow colonization.
-
Compatible with dry rock, aragonite sands, ceramic media, and sumps/refugia common to temperate displays.
