Brightwell Aquatics BlackWater
Overview
BlackWater is a humic-substance based water conditioner designed to replicate the chemical conditions of blackwater rivers—common in forested tropical regions—which host many freshwater fish and plants. It provides humic and fulvic acids that enhance nutrient bioavailability, subtly lower pH, soften water slightly, and can help trigger spawning cues in sensitive fishes.
Key Features
-
Adds humic and fulvic acids to aquarium water to simulate natural blackwater biotope conditions.
-
Enhances the uptake of essential nutrients (iron, calcium, magnesium, molybdenum, copper, manganese, zinc, cobalt, nickel) by aquatic plants and biotope fishes.
-
Slightly acidifies water and can impart a transparent brown tint depending on dosage, replicating natural blackwater aesthetics.
-
Designed to support spawning behaviour by simulating the onset of rainy-season conditions in blackwater habitats.
-
Softens water through natural chelating action of humic substances.
-
Suitable for planted freshwater tanks, biotope blackwater setups, and certain freshwater fishes from soft-acidic habitats.
