Overview
Safety Stop is a two-part dip treatment designed to protect both saltwater and freshwater ornamental fish from disease outbreaks caused by external parasites, bacteria, and fungi. It provides an effective and proactive method to reduce the risk of introducing infectious diseases when adding new fish to your aquarium or transferring fish between tanks. While extended quarantine in a hospital tank is ideal, Safety Stop offers a practical alternative when that’s not feasible.

Key Features

  • Disease Prevention:
    • Helps guard against serious infections by treating new fish before they join your main or quarantine tank.
  • Two-Part Formula:
    • Consists of PART A and PART B solutions that work sequentially to cleanse and condition the fish’s external surfaces.
  • Easy Application:
    • Simple dip protocol using non-metallic containers, with gentle agitation from an air stone to oxygenate the bath.
  • Versatile Use:
    • Suitable for use during initial fish introduction, transfers between tanks, and even in multiple fish treatments if done within a few hours.
  • Safe for Ornamental Fish:
    • Formulated for ornamental fish only; not to be used on invertebrates.

Product Specifications

  • Formula Composition:

    • PART A: Treatment bath designed to cleanse the fish’s exterior; treatment time is 45 minutes (or 30 minutes if the fish has been shipped overnight within the last 72 hours).
    • PART B: Conditioning bath following PART A, also for 45 minutes, ensuring any residual contaminants are removed.
  • Usage Instructions:

    1. Preparation:
      • Acclimate new fish to the temperature and pH of your aquarium.
      • Prepare two clean, non-metallic containers with one gallon of aquarium water in each.
      • Open the Safety Stop packages with scissors; pour PART A into the first container and PART B into the second.
      • Use an air stone in each container to gently agitate the solutions.
    2. Treatment:
      • Place the fish in the PART A bath for the designated time, monitoring for any signs of stress.
      • If stress occurs (e.g., heavy breathing, erratic swimming, rolling), shorten the treatment and immediately transfer the fish to PART B.
      • After PART A, move the fish to the PART B bath for an equal duration.
    3. Post-Treatment:
      • Net the fish into your aquarium (do not return the bath water).
      • Observe the fish and their tank mates, keeping light levels low for the first 24 hours and feeding the tank to reduce disturbances.
  • Additional Notes:

    • The bath water can be used for multiple fish within a few hours but should be discarded after several hours.
    • Always monitor fish closely during treatment.
    • This dip protocol is intended solely for ornamental fish.

By following these guidelines, Safety Stop helps minimize the risk of disease introduction, safeguarding both your fish and your overall aquarium investment.
