AvidAqua Manta Ray Frag Rack
Overview
The AvidAqua Manta Ray Frag Rack is a sleek, low-profile magnetic rack for growing out coral frags in display tanks or sumps. Its manta-ray silhouette maximizes usable space while keeping flow paths open, so frags get light and circulation without cluttering your aquascape.
Key Features
-
Magnetic mount for easy placement and repositioning (check pane-thickness rating)
-
Reef-safe construction—CNC-cut acrylic with sealed, epoxy-coated magnets
-
Low-profile design that minimizes shadows and dead spots
-
Standard plug fit—accepts most ½″ (≈12–13 mm) frag plug stems
-
Chamfered/rounded holes for snug, upright seating
-
Removable & cleanable—lift out for quick maintenance
Setup & Use
-
Choose a spot with good light and moderate flow (avoid direct blast).
-
Clean the glass/acrylic where the rack will mount; remove film and salt creep.
-
Attach the rack: place the wet side inside the tank and align the dry side outside.
-
Load frags—seat plugs fully so they stand vertical.
-
Acclimate new frags to light by starting lower or off-center and moving upward over 1–2 weeks.
Tips
-
Leave 1–2″ between frags to prevent stinging and allow growth.
-
For heavy colonies, place them closer to the magnet side for stability.
-
Periodically lift and brush off detritus; soak in tank-temperature RO/DI if needed.
Care & Maintenance
-
Rinse with fresh water after handling; do not expose magnets to harsh solvents.
-
Inspect the magnet encasement; discontinue use if the coating is compromised.
-
Avoid trapping sand/grit between the rack and glass/acrylic.
