Overview:
Brightwell Aquatics Rift Lake Chemie is a water chemistry supplement formulated to reproduce the major mineral balance of Africa’s Rift Lakes, especially Lake Malawi. It adjusts purified or very soft water to provide the proper ratios of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and sulfate needed for African cichlids, without increasing alkalinity (KH) or altering pH on its own.

Directions for Use (Basic):

• Do not add the dry powder directly to the aquarium.

• Dissolve 2 g (~½ teaspoon) of Rift Lake Chemie in 8 fl oz (240 ml) of fresh water.

• Add this solution to 20 U.S. gallons (76 L) of aquarium water to establish proper mineral balance.

• Use the same dosage when preparing new water for routine water changes.

Advanced Use / Stock Solution:

• Dissolve 8 g (~2 teaspoons) of Rift Lake Chemie in 8 fl oz (240 ml) of purified water to make a stock solution.

• Each 1 ml of this stock solution increases TDS in 1 U.S. gallon (3.785 L) by approx. 13.7 ppm (~0.12 dGH).

• If TDS is below your target, dose up to 10 ml per 20 gallons per day until the desired level is reached, then use as needed for water changes.

Suggested TDS Ranges (Starting Points):

• Lake Victoria biotope: ~75–125 ppm

• Lake Malawi biotope: ~150–200 ppm

• Lake Tanganyika biotope: ~425–475 ppm

Tips:

• Monitor TDS and GH regularly and keep within ±20 ppm of your target.

• Use alongside Rift Lake dKH (for KH/pH) and CichlidCode (for trace/minor elements) for a complete Rift Lake chemistry program.
