Brightwell Aquatics Florin Volcanit Rio Escuro-XF
Overview
Brightwell Aquatics Florin Volcanit Rio Escuro-XF is an extra-fine black volcanic ash substrate engineered for freshwater shrimp biotopes and planted aquariums. With ~1 mm grains and very high porosity, it gently lowers GH and nudges pH below 7, creating soft, slightly acidic conditions ideal for Caridina shrimp, soft-water fish, and rainforest-style planted tanks. Its semi-open structure promotes excellent root development, nutrient uptake, and long-term substrate stability.
Key Features
-
Extra-fine (~1 mm) black volcanic ash for a sleek, natural riverbed look
-
Gently binds hardness-causing ions, helping reduce GH and slightly acidify alkaline water
-
Creates optimal soft, slightly acidic conditions for Caridina shrimp and other soft-water species
-
High porosity and semi-open structure encourage strong root systems and good oxygenation
