Overview

Zoo Med Vita-Sand® is a vitamin-fortified calcium carbonate substrate designed specifically for desert-dwelling reptiles. This premium sand is fortified with essential vitamins and minerals to support strong bones, vibrant color, and overall health.

Unlike ordinary sands, Vita-Sand® is 100% natural, containing no artificial colors or sealants. It promotes natural digging and burrowing behaviors, while its fine texture provides a realistic desert environment. Ideal for bearded dragons, uromastyx lizards, leopard geckos, sand boas, and other desert species, Vita-Sand® offers both form and function for healthy, active reptiles.

Instructions

Add at least ½ inch (1.3 cm) of Vita-Sand® to the bottom of the habitat. Add more for burrowing and digging species, such as sand boas and bearded dragons. Remove debris as needed and replace completely every 6 months or sooner if a foul odor develops.

Warning

If your animal consistently ingests substrate, review its heat, UVB, diet, and hydration needs. For persistent ingestion or small hatchlings, consider using Zoo Med Repti Cage Carpet instead.
Note: Vita-Sand® is not a substitute for dietary supplements.
