Zoo Med Eco Earth® Coconut Chips™ are a 100% natural coconut coir substrate made from an eco-friendly, renewable resource. Highly absorbent—holding up to 8 times its dry weight in water—these chips help maintain a stable, humid environment ideal for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates that thrive in tropical conditions.

The coarse texture of Coconut Chips increases aeration, prevents compaction, and promotes drainage, making them an excellent component for bioactive and naturalistic terrariums. Long-lasting and naturally mold-resistant, Eco Earth® Coconut Chips are easy to maintain and can even be composted or reused in gardens after use.

Instructions

1. Soak the brick in a bucket of water for approximately 30 minutes.

2. Break apart any remaining chunks and squeeze out excess water.

3. Add expanded substrate to the terrarium as is, or mix with other substrates.

4. Spot clean daily and replace every 3–6 months as needed.

5. For drier environments, allow expanded substrate to dry completely and mist as needed to control humidity.
